After four months of qualifiers and tournaments, there was a stacked field of 32 players for the Injustice Pro Series Finals, including our newest signee Daris “DR Gross” Daniel. After an incredible run through the bracket, Daris secured himself not only a fourth-place finish, but a berth at the upcoming Injustice World Championships!
The bracket gods were not kind to him, as he started off his bracket facing the Evolution 2017 Injustice 2 Champion and arguably one of the top players in the world, Noble Esports’s Ryan “Dragon” Walker. DR Gross’s Green Lantern paved the way for one of the big upsets of the tournaments as he defeated Dragon’s Black Adam 3-0. Gross followed up with his own Black Adam and another 3-0 over Sayed “Tekken Master” Hashem of NASR Esports.
It would be in the Winner’s Semifinals where Gross would finally hit a block, as he lost a close 3-2 match to Dragon’s teammate Andrew “SEMIIJ” Fontanez and his Catwoman, putting Gross in the position of having to face Dragon again in the Loser’s Bracket. Bringing back Green Lantern against Dragon, Gross worked his magic again and eliminated Dragon 3-1 to make it to the Top 4 of the IPS Finals.
Unfortunately, his day would end with an 0-3 scoreline at the hands of Panda Global’s Alexandre “Hayatei” Dubé-Bilodeau and his Robin. Despite the loss, DR Gross walks away from this tournament with a fourth-place finish, the knowledge that he beat the defending EVO Champion twice, and has qualified for the ELEAGUE Injustice 2 World Championships later this year!
